Overview

 

The ViewPoint EyeTracker® user interface makes eye tracking easy. The eye tracker provides the user with pre-set defaults that are appropriate for most situations and also provides serious control to override those defaults. Preferred settings can be saved and reloaded automatically at start-up to save time.

User Interface

EyeCamera Window
The EyeCamera window tool bar provides easy controls to make your eye tracking results more reliable and to extend the range of trackable subjects. It is very easy to limit the areas within which the software searches for the pupil and corneal reflection to exclude extraneous reflections and dark shadows. These can cause many tracking failures on conventional eye trackers.

EyeSpace Window
Easy, flexible and intuitive calibration procedure. You can decide the number of calibration points to use, their color, and how fast to present them to the subject. Or stick with the defaults set within ViewPoint for you. The EyeSpace window provides a visualisation of the calibration mapping so that you can quickly and easily tell if you have a good calibration. Outliers can be repeated individually if necessary to avoid recalibration. Easily re-present individual points and perform slip correction at any point. Save and reload individual subject's calibration settings for use in subsequent trials.

Real-Time Feedback
The GazeSpace window provdes real-time gaze position and fixation information. User defined regions of interests make the analysis task easy.
The PenPlot window provides real-time eye position, velocity, torsion and pupil size measurement feed back.

 


Eye tracking Interfaces

Ethernet ViewPointClient ™
ViewPointClient ® is a program that runs on a remote computer and communicates with the ViewPoint EyeTracker. ViewPointClient  interfaces to a copy of the dll and exchanges data just like the ViewPoint EyeTracker does, but it typically takes less than one percent of CPU resources. This means that the same “layered” applications can be used on a remote computer just as easily as on the same computer. The ViewPoint EyeTracker includes an Ethernet server; the ViewPointClient establishes an Ethernet link with this server. ViewPointClient™ for PC and MAC OSX is included free with the ViewPoint EyeTracker.

Interfaces to Third Party Products
Integrity™ is a suite of interfaces between the ViewPoint EyeTracker ® and 3rd party applications, which is provided by Arrington Research, Inc. to ensure a professional quality, uniform, complete, and thorough interface to the favorite products of eye tracker users. These provide access to data, complete eye tracker control, and data integration and synchronization, all in real-time. Integrity is included free with ViewPoint.

The sample code shows how to: Open/close the ViewPoint application, Open/Close/Pause/Resume data files, insert real-time dataMarkers and real-time stringData, access all data in real-time, complete eye tracker control, merge data in real-time from various sources.

Ocular Torsion
Torsion is the rotation of the eye-ball about the line of sight, i.e. rotation about the z-axis. ViewPoint measures torsion in degrees of rotation and stores the values in the ASCII format data file, or accessed real-time from other applications. Real-time feed-back can also be shown in the PenPlot window.
