Medical surgery and simulation

Force Dimension's force feedback devices are used by its OEM system partners in the medical field to control activities in highly complex surgical procedures that are conducted around the head for example. | These operations require the highest precision, which can only be achieved with specialized surgery systems. | Force Dimension's force feedback devices were chosen by OEM partners to take over high-precision control allowing the operator both to make high precision moves and to feel instantly how much force he/she is applying, thereby providing the extreme controllability necessary for a successful operatio

Nanomanipulation
With the invention of the scanning tunneling microscope at the IBM research laboratory in Zurich, Switzerland, for which Binnig and Rohrer were awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics, it finally became possible to look at single atoms and molecules.

Nowadays various different scanning probe microscopes (SPMs) based on different physical principles are used, such as

  • STM
  • contact AFM and ncAFM
  • MFM

Force Dimension's haptic force feedback devices - in conjunction with a scanning probe microscope - now allow the nanotechnology and nanoscience community not only to look at atoms and molecules but even to touch them.
